Im researching our old house, which was Grove House, The Grove. Lowton. I have discovered recently that the area was called Lowton Grove. We knew it was a 16 century squires house. Are you able to provide us with any more information. Do you find this valuable?

Thanks for your message - I only wish I had some information about the house myself. I've done a bit of searching online but am hoping to uncover some more details. I know the ancestor who lived there (my 3xgreat grandfather James Worsley) employed 160 people at one time - I believe in a cotton mill - and had several servants so have been imagining it to have been quite a big place. I think James was quite well-off - his daughters never married and one of his sons became a solicitor so I suspect he must have had a considerable bit of money for the time.

I will let you know if I find anything more.

Best wishes
Kate
