Hi Kate
You have an interesting site here. Many of your family names from Aughton are of the dominant farming famlies of the last century and back. Most of these families are still around and still involved in farming. I recognoise a few links to my own family and names & places are very familiar. I notice you have relatives going to St Mary' RC school, Melling. I went there myself. I will spend some more time looking at the detail. D Many of these family names are now imortalised into road names in the area |

I am researching the ancestry of Joseph Whalley born June 27,1861, emigrated to Canada (Nova Scotia) and married in 1885. The Marriage stated his father was also Joseph who was a sailor. Do not know where he was born in England.
