This page unfortunately has nothing to do with the savoury snack! My tree has expanded so far and in so many different directions that I often have many loose ends to follow up and not enough time to keep on top of them all. Some of them are miniature brick walls and some aren't, but if you recognise any distant ancestors, please feel free to leave a message via e-mail or start a thread using the link at the end of the page. I will be happy to provide any extra details that I have.

Bold family Aughton/Halsall/Lydiate, Lancashire - I have located an assortment of Bolds in the records of Our Lady's RC Church, Lydiate. There appear to be several couples who were all raising families from the 1790s onwards - William and Catharine (children - James b.1797, Thomas b.1800), James and Elizabeth (children - James b.1802, Ann b.1804), Thomas and Ann [nee Holland] (children - James b.1807, Thomas b.1810, Catherine b.1812, John b.1814, William b.1817, Robert b.1819, Ann b.1822), Charles and Elizabeth [nee Fazackerley?] (children - James b.1812, Mary b.1814, Richard b.1816, Martin b.1818, Mary b.1821). Anybody who knows of any Bolds or is related to any Bolds from this area may want to get in touch as I have christening dates and godparents for the above children.

Dunning family York and surrounding areas - Mary Ann Dunning (1821-1913), my direct ancestor, married John Siggs in 1847. She was the daughter of John (d. before 1841?) and Hannah (b. 1782, Stamford Bridge, d. 1858) and had siblings Sarah (1815-1844), John (1813-c.1818) and John (1818-c.1853). Sarah Dunning married George Penty and had five children.

Halsall family any possible siblings or parents of William Halsall (b. c.1827, Burscough, d. 29 Jun 1901), married to Esther/Hester Whalley in 1848. According to the couple's marriage certificate, they both lived at Trap Lane, North Meols and William names his father as a John Halsall, labourer.

Haskayne family
I have managed to identify that William Grayson (18 Jul 1889-c.Dec 1954), my great-great uncle was married first to Barbara Kelly (1888-1919) and secondly to Mary Agnes Haskayne nee Evans on 17 Apr 1920 at Aughton, Lancashire. She was the widow of Charles William Haskayne (b.1880, Melling, d. 17 Feb 1917 France). I have a little information gleaned from the internet about his burial place.

Holland family Aughton, Lancashire? - I have located a few Hollands in Aughton but haven't tied them in with my ancestor Anne yet. She was born c.1782 in Aughton (believed to have been a Catholic) and married Thomas Bold in 1807. The Catholic church at Aughton (St. Mary's) was not founded until the late 1790s and no Hollands appeared in the records for St. Anne's, Ormskirk.

Kemp family Bottesford, Leicestershire and Manthorpe-cum-Little Gonerby, Lincolnshire - the following offspring of Mary Robinson (b. 1801 Bottesford d. 1879) and John Kemp (b.1798 Redmile d. 1880) are difficult to trace. They are Harriett (b. 1847 Little Gonerby) after 1861, Mary Jane (b. 1849) after 1851 and Eliza (b. 1850) after 1851.

Knopp family Poplar, London - Hannah Kemp (1826) of Bottesford married William Knopp (b.1830 Bromley, d. 1866 Poplar). They had three children - Hannah (1855), Emma (1858) and Charles (1860, d. in infancy) but I can't find Hannah or the girls after 1861.

Manuel family
Holywell, Flintshire - Jane Manuel (c.1794) was born in Holywell according to the census records and married Thomas Whalley at Aughton, Lancashire in 1827. I haven't spotted any other Manuels in the West Lancs area but I believe Jane was a Catholic.

Mascow (variants include Masco, Maskew and Maskea) and Melling Family Scarth Hill, Aughton and Lathom in Lancashire. William Mascow (c.1741-1825) married Susan Melling (d. 1800) in 1763 at Ormskirk. Their children included Ellen (1769) who married George Hurst, John (1771), Elizabeth "Betty" (1773-1793), Mary (d.1797) and Henry (1778).

Morris family Harlaxton, Lincolnshire - any information welcome on any descendents or links relating to William Morris (1769-1853) of Denton, Lincolnshire and his wife Elizabeth Martindale (1772-1851). Their children include Benjamin (1804-1876) and William (1809-1861).

Wood family
Bottesford, Leicestershire - Mary Kemp (1824) of Bottesford married James Wood (1822-1868) of Nottingham. Their children were William Wood (b.1855, Grantham) and Noah Wood (b. 1866, Bottesford)
