In my research, I have found that the basic "Grayson" name has been interpreted in a variety of different ways including
"Grayston", "Graystone", "Greyson" and "Gregson". The approximate rule I have used for the data on this page is that the
given name of a person is defined by the spelling that was used when they were baptised, even if it is not the one that
they used in later life.

I would also like to add an acknowledgment here to Tom McCarthy, a descendant of Elias Grayson, who provided me with
a copy of the letters written by Catherine Bond nee Grayston after her emigration to America as this material was very helpful
in fleshing out the lives of the family members who moved abroad. The mid-census dates mentioned that detail Catherine's
children, husband and other family are based on this resource.
