My Branston ancestors and their assorted descendents spent a period of about a hundred and fifty years in and around the village of Bottesford in Leicestershire, not far from Belvoir Castle, home of the Manners family who were successive Dukes of Rutland. A considerable number of the birth, marriage and christening dates were taken from the parish records of St. Mary the Virgin, Bottesford. As of summer 2007, they were located at the Leicestershire Records office in Wigston Magna.
