Welcome to my online work in progress! After researching my tree for nearly ten years - on and off - I finally seem to have enough data to put onto the internet. Some of the details on these pages may change from time to time as I find out more information or discover errors in my research, so if you recognise something here that either relates to your family or that doesn't seem right, please let me know.

If you have a question or a family history related query, please feel free to either e-mail me directly using the address that I've hidden in the cloud image below or leave a message at the discussion forum - maybe somebody else out there will know what you're trying to find out.

Home - Kate's Family Tree Site

The Gravestones Around Clitheroe are not specifically connected to my family, but the data is there because I have collected it together. Some pages of this personal project are only partially complete and I will be doing further work on them as time permits.

Comments on the site are always welcome, and I am happy to try to locate the gravestones I've transcribed for photographs. I also now welcome enquiries from anyone who would like me to undertake paid research.

If you're a craft-orientated person, you might also like to explore the Craft Gallery pages showing pictures of my work. I now have a Facebook page for my artwork which you can find by searching Facebook for Artwork by Kate Hurst

Have fun exploring and feel free to leave feedback

I now have a second website concentrating on my direct ancestors so if you would like to see which names form my direct connections, please click on this link - but please bear in mind that the site is still being worked on!
At the end of this page you will see a message regarding help for a search for the Powell family of Clitheroe - if you think you can help, contributions to the thread are very welcome.

I have lately been in touch with Stuart Worsley, who is searching for Worsley ancestors in the south of England. If you think you can help, please visit the Discussion Forum and see his message.

Hi I am looking for any information on the powell family who were in clitheroe from the 1880s, I,ve found the bulk of the family, the mother betsy ann powell and the daughters, who all married in St mary magdelene church,Betsy ann, her mother mary ann Hornby, betsy,s daughter isabella, and her grandson william Ridsdale, are all buried together in waddington road cemetery,I am having trouble finding the father John william powell, I,ve found him in 1929 but after that, nothing no record of him in clitheroe. The powell family married into the Ridsdale, halhead, wilson,Demain,Ingham,Long,Frost, and Sanderson familys. any help would be great thanxs.

Hello,

I read on the Internet that you were a member of Ancestry.co.uk.
Personally, I think this site is interesting but unfortunately the amount of the annual fee is exorbitant. It is too expensive ...
Also, I dare ask, and what it will seem shocking but I wish you could to some research I need on my grandfather who lived and who died in your beautiful country.
If I've offended or hurt, I would like to offer my sincere apologies.
In the meantime, I'll give my email address: ericrondet1@yahoo.fr
With many thanks in advance,

Eric Rondet
